Title: Manager, Pharmacy Operations

Basic Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, direct and supervise the activities of the pharmacy departments, including production planning and queue management
  • Manage daily operations to ensure achievement of department service, quality, safety, financial, and efficiency objectives
  • Perform departmental planning and management of appropriate staffing levels, schedule work flow, and resolve problems; coordinate work plans and activities with department supervisor and manager
  • Coach, develop, and train department staff
  • Oversee and perform regularly scheduled audits
  • Interview and select department staff
  • Develop continuous quality improvement processes in assigned area
  • Provide management of payroll and related time-off policies and practices, schedule changes and hours management
  • Carry out other work responsibilities as assigned, including special projects

Experience Guidelines, Business Competencies, and Leadership Competencies include:

  • Licensed Pharmacist. Advanced degree helpful but not required
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a clinical practice site or comparable clinical exposure
  • Experience in DUR related programs, health systems communications, and teaching/precepting education preferred
  • Knowledge of PC functions in the Windows environment required
  • Experience in information systems development related to pharmacy practice helpful but not required
  • Must have strong clinical and analytical skills, good organizational skills, ability to prioritize multiple projects, and strong written and communication skills, including active listening skills
  • High professional ethics and standards
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, develop, motivate, coach/mentor and counsel people to meet departmental service and quality objectives
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and leadership abilities
  • Strong negotiation and conflict management skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate effectively
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Proficient computer skills including MS Word and Excel
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable
  • Prior supervisory experience is preferred
  • Business Management or related experience is preferred
