Title: Clinical Practice Manager

Basic Functions and Responsibilities include:

  • Champions the principles of pharmaceutical care in drug therapy management
  • Ensure strict compliance with the letter and spirit of all standardized professional policies and procedures
  • Participate in the selection and hiring of pharmacists
  • Mentoring of pharmacists and pharmacy management team to increase their clinical effectiveness and counseling skills
  • Provide clinical/drug information to pharmacists and pharmacist management
  • Attend clinical train-the-trainer programs
  • Deliver clinical education programs
  • Support the maintenance of clinical programs
  • Assist with the development, use, analysis, and feedback of clinical performance measurement indicators, processes, and audits
  • Evaluate the ongoing performance of patient counseling and health management pharmacists
  • Serve as a liaison between the pharmacy and the Department of Clinical Practice and Education
  • Other duties as assigned

Experience Guidelines, Business Competencies, and Leadership Competencies include:

  • B.S. Pharmacy or Pharm.D. with licensure. Advanced degree helpful but not required
  • Highly motivated and resilient professional
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated ability to positively lead change and gain results
  • Strong clinical decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated ability to balance economic, business and operational factors with pharmaceutical care responsibilities
  • 3-5 years clinical practice experience (drug information service, inpatient team rounds, ambulatory care clinic, nursing home consulting, managed care, etc.)
  • Preceptor and teaching experience preferable
  • Strong critical-thinking/problem-solving skills
  • Proven conflict management/resolution skills
  • High professional ethics and standards
  • Strong team player and team building skills; ability to collaborate with all levels and areas
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills; including active listening skills
