Title: Clinical Specialist—Pharmacist

Basic Functions and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development, enhancement, quality assurance, implementation and maintenance of new clinical rules for programs

Primary Activities

  • Development, enhancement, implementation, integration and maintenance of new clinical rules
  • Participate in cross-functional teams
  • Formulate and execute system database queries to analyze, refine, and test validity of rule criteria and parameters
  • Maintenance of clinical rules databases
  • Participate in report generation and review for accuracy
  • Confirm systems data integrity on a weekly basis as it applies to all clinical programs as part of the ongoing quality assurance process

Experience Guidelines, Business Competencies, and Leadership Competencies include:

  • B.S. Pharmacy or Pharm.D. with licensure. Advanced degree helpful but not required
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a clinical practice site or comparable clinical exposure
  • Experience in DUR related programs, health systems communications, and education preferred
  • High professional ethics and standards
  • Knowledge of PC functions in the Windows environment required
  • Experience in information systems development related to pharmacy practice helpful but not required
  • Must have strong clinical and analytical skills, good organizational skills, ability to prioritize multiple projects, and strong written and communication skills
